BIOGRAPHY
Wynn
Dan was born in New York City. He attended Boston University and the School of Visual Arts.
Immediately
after his university studies, he worked at Mademoiselle Magazine. He subsequently held staff positions at Vanity Fair, GQ
and Harper's Bazaar. He was also Corporate Art Director for Advance Publications. At that time Advance was the holding company
which owned Condé Nast Publications, Condé Net Web Publishing, Random House Book Publishing and The New Yorker Magazine.
In
his position as Corporate Art Director he was responsable for: consultation on all CNP publications, magazine redesigns, magazine
prototype development, website design, troubleshooting, corporate films, advertising and marketing. During the early 1990s
his workload was divided equally between Condé Nast Magazines, Random House Books and The New Yorker Magazine.
In
1992 Wynn collaborated with editor Tina Brown on the modernization of the The New Yorker.
From
the beginning of his career he had worked closely with the original Editorial Director of Condé Nast, Alexander Liberman.
He
has also worked on a freelance basis for many large publishing firms, such as The New York Times, Hearst Publications, Lei
Magazine (Italy) and Hachette Filipachi Magazines, to name just a few.
He
has held the titles of Art Director, Design Director and Design Consultant; and has extensive experience in art direction,
design and brand marketing. He has worked with photographers such as Richard Avedon, Arthur Elgort, and Steven Meisel, to
name just a few. He has also worked with the editors: Tina Brown, Harold Evans, Art Cooper, Jann Wenner and Anna Wintour.
He
has published 6 artist's books (100 Pages: Words + Pictures, Text\Image Collection, and Typographic Fotographic, Yabe Project,
Graphic Paintings, Alt/Saglio + Quotes Citations). The books are in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art New York,
The Getty Museum Los Angeles, The Special Collections Library of The Library of the City of New York and many other institutions.
In
2002 he moved to Paris, France where he worked on personal creative projects and was the creative director for Chevignon advertising
and catalogues.
2008, Wynn will divide his time between Paris and New York.
